New Books!

I just finished reading Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. It was not bad, save for the fact that it is written by an adult who tried to sound like a teenager. But, all in all, it was a fun read about ‘when cyberspace goes bad’. I just got some new books in the mail and they are Always Running // La Vida Loca : Gang Days in L.A. and After Dark by Murakami. I can’t decide which to read first, but I may have to opt for the gang book. I’m a sucker for that stuff.

The Murakami book looks interesting. He appears quite prolific; which of his previous books do you recommend or all of them?

    Thanks,

Apparently, I haven’t read his best books like The Wind Up Bird Chronicle and Kafka on the Shore. Those are his most lauded. I have read half of Blind Willow/Sleeping Woman, half of Sputnik Sweetheart, all of Dance, Dance, Dance (which is technically part 2 of A Wild Sheep Chase which I also have not read), all of South of the Border West of the Sun, and all of Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. So far, my two favorites have been “South of the Border…” and “Hard Boiled…”. I recommend you start with South of the Border as it is the least strange of his books that I have read. Hardboiled is a psuedo-scifi-ish book. Though not so much sci-fi as just plain wonderful!
